message: OK, well I just helped someone else
resolve this issue. We both use
Debian SID, APSFILTER 6.0...
What Happens is APSFILTER sets
up a printer fine... and prints
the test page fine.. but when
the user types lpr blah.. or
tries to print elsewhere.. the
printer cycles through countless
pages without printing anything.
That is because apsfilter does
not make the printer it sets up
the "default" printer..
I fix this by editing the
/etc/printcap file.. noticing
that the printer named "lp" still
points to a generic dot-matrix
printer.. I remove the "lp"
printer section, find the
printer apsfilter setup ("auto")
and change it's name to ("lp"),
the default printer name lpr
prints to..
this works flawlessly..
