Wierd.

My guess is that it's a hardware problem, probably flaky memory.
Whenever ghostscript is working, it produces a heavy load on the
machine, so it's likely to detect erroneous RAM chips.

Whenever you use simple printing procedures (plain text), the
machine doesn't reboot, since it's not that stressed.

Does the same problem occur when you try to convert a PS file
with ghostscript manually?

Maybe you should try to run a good memory tester on your machine,
or adjust the latency timings etc. in the BIOS.

I doubt that it's an apsfilter related problem. Rebooting is the
last thing I'd expect from a spooler :)
