Hi!

First of all: I can't download the latest patch from the
website: "Forbidden".

Now the real stuff:
The use of $TMPDIR is okay, but it should be exported so that
other filters might use it as well (there's an exception, of
course: gs wants $TEMP; maybe there are others).

BTW, did my latest bug reports and suggestions get lost?
I've sent them to *-hackers, but either Matej fell asleep
or they were considered boring for some other reason (there
was at least one major security concern mentioned).
