Do you have apsfilter 5.4.2 ? The class option is all you need.
lpr -C low:opt2:..:optN file1..fileN

Look in the filter script (bin/apsfilter) if class options are 
available for your printer driver... If not, then read the gs driver
manual and add the options in the apsfilter script (its copy and paste
job) and please send me the diffs.

BTW, gs 6.01 is best supported...

Next time please mention apsfilter release number ...
