What apsfilter version are you using ?

You must have a very old installation ...

At that time I had to use a "hacked" a2ps version.
Because it was hacked, I installed it only within the apsfilter
package.

You need to read the docu ...

a) Remove your old apsfilter installation completely
b) install aspfilter and all related software, among that software
   a2ps 4.13 ...

Use apsfilter 5.4.2 (the -STABLE version) or if you like to have many
new features, use 6.0-current, the developement version.
