Printer Loop?

Hi

I'm trying to set up a remote printer using APSFilter to do postcript
translation. (Instructions in the FAQ followed to the letter and after
reading through the apsfilter executable).

My version of lpd does not do filters for remote printers so I added the
lpr.conf file in the spool directory of the aps filter printer and removed
/dev/lp0 and replaced it with /dev/null.

When I print, I get an entry in the spool queue for the printer lp as
printing and alot of churning of hard discs - but no output at the printer.
The job does not show up in the spool queue for the remote printer.

With -x enabled, the log file reads:

(I've put an extra carriage return in between lines to make it easier to
read)

<SNIP>
+ eval gs -q -sDEVICE=ljet4 -sPAPERSIZE=a4 -dNOPAUSE -dSAFER -sOutputFile=-
redir_gs_msg.ps -_ | /usr/bin/lpr -Plj

++ gs -q -sDEVICE=ljet4 -sPAPERSIZE=a4 -dNOPAUSE -dSAFER -sOutputFile=-
redir_gs_msg.ps -_

++ /usr/bin/lpr -Plj

My guess is a print loop but I can't figure out why?

It just keeps churning the HDD for as long as I care to leave it!

Details:
Printer HP Laserjet 4+ (lj)
Ghostscript 5.something
Pentium 400 running Slackware 4.0

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Alex
