apsfilter V6.0; dvips and pdf problem

Hi,

I have installed the new apsfilter V6.0 and LPRng on a Linux machine
(DLD 6.0). I print to a HP Laserjet 4
or a HP DeskJet 1600 CM (on a remote NT machine),  both with postscript
capabilities and both work ok for ASCII, jpg, tiff, and postscript.

If I try to print pdf files (Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.0 installed) or dvi
files, after enabling debug information, I get errors like

(1) for pdf:

IF filter 'apsfilter' filter msg - '/usr/bin/acroread: /root: Permission
denied' at 2001-01-02-19:30:53.115 ## A=bs@echem9+758 number=758

(2) for dvi

IF filter 'apsfilter' filter msg - '/root/.dvipsrc: Permission denied'

IF filter 'apsfilter' filter msg - '/root/.dvipsrc: Permission denied'
at 2001-01-02-19:06:08.068 ## A=bs@echem9+520 number=520 process=27522

Note, that I am logged in as a normal user.

Furthermore, there is another problem with dvi files. I don't know if is
related to the above problem:

postscript files to be included are NOT found, even if I set TEXINPUTS
in the apsfilterrc file. I have checked the permissions of all the
directories necessary to access the ps-file to be world redable and
executable. The ps file itself is world readable.

Does anyone have a suggestion what's wrong?
