Could you please insert

	echo "permission test" > /tmp/xxx

at the beginning of apsfilter script
(/usr/local/share/apsfilter/bin/apsfilter)

Then please do

	ls -ld /tmp
	ls -l /tmp/xxx
	ls -ld /root

	ls -ld /root/.dvipsrc

Please enable debugging in apsfilter script (set -x)
and send the complete log of one print session to this list.,

Maybe trouble with the installed TeX ...
I personally prefer teTeX.

Any DLD user around ?
I personally wouldn't use DLD.
Reason is, that I had bad experiences from my short ISP
time. DLD didn't have good update paths and new versions
looked _completely_ different to old versions (this makes
administration of different boxes an administrational
nightmare).
