apsfilkter V6.0; dvips and pdf problem

This is to follow up the earlier thread on apsfilter problems with dvips

and pdf files on a DLD 6.0 Pro Linux System.

I have been away some days from my office and later had little time to

 continue working with the apsfilter installation.

So this goes directly to the mailing-list, and I try to keep the lines

short!

I have, however, problems silencing LPRng. The logs sent earlier were from

the LPRng status file, after set -x in apsfilter was commented off. It does

NOT go to the lf entry in /etc/printcap. So this

seems to be a mixture of LPRng and apsfilter messages, but I can't swith

LPRng to silence. If someone knows how to do this ...

OK, back to the problem here is a log of a full session with acroread. My

path of acroread points to acroread3, but acroread4 is also installed on this

machine. apsfilter seems to pick up the acroread4 installation. (??)

In the following log, I have deleted everything that seems to come from LPRng,

and long lines have been broken and indented:

++ local input
++ [  ]++ ps_postprocessing acroread4 $ACROREAD_OPTS -pairs "$APS_TMPDIR/pdf"

     /dev/stdout
++ print_data cat
++ [  ]
++ eval acroread4 $ACROREAD_OPTS -pairs "$APS_TMPDIR/pdf"

     /dev/stdout+++ acroread4 -toPostScript -level2 -fast -pairs

     /tmp/apsfilter3061/pdf /dev/stdout
++ [ -f /etc/apsfilter/LJ4/smbclient.conf ]
++ [ -f /etc/apsfilter/LJ4/lpr.conf ]
++ [ -f /etc/apsfilter/LJ4/pap.conf ]
++ eval cat
+++ cat
Fatal System Error: Raise at top of Exception Stack
++ return
++ rm -f /tmp/apsfilter3061/pdf
+ rm -f /tmp/apsfilter3061/header1
+ rm -rf /tmp/apsfilter3061
+ exit

The `Fatal System Error' seems to come from acroread.
