Error: -16 ? 

I am running Linux Debian Woody,
   apsfilter 6.0.0-1
   a2ps 4.13b-8
   lpr 2000.05.07-4

My printer is an HP Laserjet 4P.

My test page prints perfectly, but when I try to lpr something, it 
doesn't print at all.  I checked the logs and this is the message I am 
getting:

Unexpected interpreter error -16.
Error object:


It seems to give that message every time I try to print.  Again, the 
test page in the setup program prints perfectly.
