No, not a wrong mailer - just the way I did it for years ago - and for almost all lists, still. I don't know exactly what you mean by "group reply", but my mailer (kmail) has "Reply" (R) and "Reply all" (A). The first one means: reply to the "From" address. The latter one means: Reply to "From" address and also to the addresses in the "To" field - and probably to those in the "Cc" field. This could be what you mean with "group reply"?! I always use "Reply" since I used this for years, it's (R = Reply) intuitive, there was no need to do it another way, and I don't want to bore or annoy people with redundant mail copies. I just encountered only TWO lists w/o "Reply to" field in the recent past. One is this apsfilter-help list. > > > > I'm nearly about forcing you people by configuring majordomo > > > to set a reply to .... > > > > Please do so! > > hmm > > > > But that has other disadvantages ... > > > > What are these? > > I don't see one! > > People who are new to a software tend to not immediately > subscribe to a mailinglist. You force (subscribed) people to make a "group reply". > > So figure ... I don't want to enable that feature... Sorry, I completely disagree. If I'm subscribed to a list and want to do a reply to someone's question/comment I will always try to ONLY reply to the list - since if he/she doesn't mention he/she is off-list I will always assume he/she is subscribed to that list. And I don't want to get redundant mails: one going to me directly and one via the list. So I think other people think similar. BTW: I encountered replies from users on this list which only went to me. So I am not the only one having problems with this list. If one is NOT on the list - and I would think he/she is aware of that fact ;-) - I expect that he/she writes that he/she wants to get replies also to his/her address. > > > > Sorry, but the reason is, that other people should learn > > > from our conversation, I'm busy with lots of other things, > > > so I have to use the medium internet to my advantage (to > > > save time...). > > > > > > > I use by default not "reply to all" since in most (of my) cases > > I don't want to bore the other recipients with my opinion, > > and most of the lists I'm subscribed to carry a "Reply to" field in > > their header. > > And I see it the other way around ... > I don't want to be the only person, who has to answer to people > who have an apsfilter problem and don't want to answer questions > again and again. The reason I usually fail to reply to this list is just my habit to only "Reply", since for almost all lists there was need to change this. > Even Lotus notes, which is crappy in other ways, has at least > a knob to push "reply to all people". > > I hope you understand my position better now ... > > What do others think about that ?
