| Re: Notes on your printing HOWTO |
Hi Bill, would be great if you would be more verbose about software version numbers and such, to get an idea, what apsfilter version or HOWTO document you are referring to, ... Did you change your ghostscript version as well ? Which ghostscript version and driver did you use when you used your old working setup ?? > I had read somewhere that the printer speaks PCL 3, so I chose the > ljet3d Ghostscript filter. But one is true PCL is not equal PCL, there are different versions around and some devices needs special commands to operate as expected ... Generally it seems to me, that using a Laerprinter PCL driver (ljet3d) might be a bad idea when trying to print on a printer which prints with ink (I assume the OfficeJet is an ink jet printer). > Then I found http://www.linuxprinting.org/ which recommended that I > try cdj550. This printed the test page in apsfilterconfig, I don't know apsfilterconfig. This seems to be an Debian add on script that is not supported by me.... Look a the apsfilter sources... one file tells you how to troubleshoot apsfilter. a) use the bugform b) enable debugging in the apsfilter script and send log of one print session. > Along the way, I found http://hpoj.sourceforge.net/, > http://hp.sourceforge.net/, http://www.linux.hp.com/.
