| apsfilter for epson980N |
Hello,
I wish to print from my Linux machine (running RedHat 6.2) to my Epson
980N color inkjet printer, which is connected through the local
network. I currently have Ghostscript 5.5 and apsfilter 6.1.1
installed. Is it possible to use apsfilter with this printer???
In apsfilter, I have configured the printer named 'color_aps', which
gives me a printcap file like this:
color_aps|printer1 auto:\
:lp=:\
:rm=192.19.36.149:\
:rp=auto:\
:if=/etc/apsfilter/basedir/bin/apsfilter:\
:sd=/var/spool/lpd/color_aps:\
:lf=/var/spool/lpd/color_aps/log:\
:af=/var/spool/lpd/lpd/color_aps/acct:\
:mx#0:\
:sh:
raw_printer.......
I have tried several different drivers which are provided, but currently
am using 'st800' since this seems to give some results for printing
files without apsfilter. I have also tried changing the first line to
:lp=/dev/null: and also tried using a bounce queue with no success.
What usually happens is that the file makes it to the appropriate spool
directory, but the lpd daemon can't seem to send the job properly to the
remote printer. The jobs get stuck in the spool directory with their
names intact but the files lose the data. At the same time, the light
on the printer starts to blink, so SOMETHING is making it to the
printer. In the end, I have to manually delete the jobs from the spool
directory.
Any help at all would be much appreciated!!
