It should be the default, but you might want to try
the command line options  32bpp  or  24bpp .

There are a couple of other drivers available. However,
the pcl3 is only supported by the latest 7.0-preview
release of apsfilter. An unofficial version can be found
at

That's a feature :)  The changes actually take place in the
configuration file /etc/apsfilter/lp/apsfilterrc (most likely
the PRINTER=... setting).

Could be -- get ghostscript 7.00 if you can.

That what apsfilter is for normally. However, if you convert the
files yourself and it works -- then you've found an apsfilter bug.
