Stuck

Am installing a xerox all-in-one copier scanner fax printer and can't
get apsfilter to begin to work. I have Linux Slackware 7.1 and
downloaded
apsfilter 6.1.1 and ghostscript 6.50 in package form from
http//www.FreeBSD.org/ports. I used slackware's pkgtool to remove the
old packages and install the new ones. They were installed in a new
directory /share. When I tried to run apsfilter I get a message that
says I have ghostscript 5.10 installed and need to update. I can find
no evidence of 5.10 in my box. When I proceed anyway the program
terminates with the message "cant find initialization file gs_init.ps".
I then copied apsfilter into its old spot at /usr/lib/apsfilter and
ghostscript to /usr/share/ghostscript/6.50 and got the same result. I
can find the file it is looking for - why cant it?

Will appreciate any clue.

Bob
