Did you perhaps still use the old entries in /etc/printcap ?
Did you (a)dd or (o)verwrite the entries in /etc/printcap
when installing with apsfilters SETUP ?

Please write your /etc/printcap to the mailinglist.

Did you enable debugging in apsfilter ?
uncomment set -x in ...../bin/apsfilter.
Then you should get debugging output in the file, that
can be found in the location as /etc/printcap tells you
lf=/some/path
lf = logfile
