| Newby help please |
Hi good people I'm a complete and utter newby to *nix systems and particularly trying to print from them, so please excuse me if I ask any 'duh' obvious questions! My OS is FreeBSD 4.3, I'm trying to print via a network "through" a Windoze 98 machine, using Samba on my machine. I'm using LPRng. My printer is a Canon LBP 800. The windoze printer drivers are properly installed on the machine and the printer is properly shared. I have tried the gs printer drivers pcl3 and lbp8, as well as trying to print as a guest and as "me" through samba. When I try to print a test page using 'T' in setup I get nothing - no error messages, nothing. I've done an 'lpc reread'. 'lpq' shows nothing in the printer queue I've looked through the Apsfilter Documentation Document (including the FAQ) and had a look in the archives of the list but I'm not even sure where to begin looking, or even what question to ask! Any pointers to where I might look or what the problem might be would be much appreciated. Kind regards David -- ____________________________ Dr David Green The Compliance Service (http://www.compliance.za.net) The Green Report (http://www.green.za.net)
