Apsfilter is designed for use with non-postscript printers and relies on Ghostscript to do the necessary conversion to e.g. PL5 format.

I don't use apsfilter any more since I now have a Postscript printer which will take PS files directly. I don't have a networked printer but there are some vendor-provided scripts whcih can be used for that situation.

So try your vendor (mine is Ricoh) for a script covering your situation.
