So he has an old lpd ... then he could also try to upgrade to LPRng (lineprinter next generation), though I hate it for other reasons (shitty spammed logfiles) ... Could you perhaps tell us Jim, what Linux distrib you use ? I'd like to release an extra README for that flavour of Linux, so that other people are warned ... > > Apsfilter is designed for use with non-postscript printers and relies > > on Ghostscript to do the necessary conversion to e.g. PL5 format. > > > > I don't use apsfilter any more since I now have a Postscript printer > > which will take PS files directly. I think he didn't understand, that he still needs conversion tools, that convert everything to Postscript for his printer. Or he understood it but didn't get the clue, that apsfilter supports true PS printer. How can apsfilter support true PS printer ? By executing SETUP, choosing the right driver for real PS printer ... So to say "business like usual" from the end users perspective ... And HOW does bin/apsfilter actually do this ??? By recognizing, its a real PS printer and simply using "cat(1)" to send the PS data to the printer no matter if it is a local, windows, network, appletalk printer ... Cheers ... P.S.: some user should keep their "semi wisdom" for themselves ... Or ... he could have asked and we would have helped him ... *sigh* Andreas /// -- Andreas Klemm Apsfilter Homepage http://www.apsfilter.org Support over mailing-lists (only!) http://www.apsfilter.org/support Mailing-list archive http://www.apsfilter.org/Lists-Archives Songs from our band >> 64Bits << http://www.64bits.de Inofficial band pages with add-on stuff http://www.apsfilter.org/64bits.html
