| SETUP and ghostscript and other problems. . . |
Hi List,
I have browsed through the entire help archive, and have yet to run
across my problem, so I will pose it to the list.
Current system:
FreeBSD 4.4-Release
apsfilter-6.1.1 [installed from ports]
ghostscript-6.50_6
ghostscript-gnu-6.51
HP Laserjet 5L
running on an old P-133 I would like to use as a print server.
Problem #1: The port of apsfilter seems to build ok [I'm building
without any X support, as I won't be running X on this machine], but
when I run SETUP, it tells me that I must upgrade to at leas gs
5.50!
Problem #2: Knowing that I'm way ahead of that, I continue with
SETUP, and it lists a bunch of drivers I might use [from what I've
read, ljet4 is probably a good choice for this printer]. When I type
in 111 [the number of the ljet4 driver], the program tells me that
that particular driver hasn't been compiled into the version of gs that
is on my system. Really?
Problem #3: I manually tweaked SETUP.cfg to contain the driver,
paper, resolution, etc., then ran SETUP to try to print the test
page. The error I get is
--------------------------------------------------
Creating test page...
/usr/libexec/ld-elf.so.1: Shared object "libXt.so.6" not found
time: command terminated abnormally
0.02 real 0.00 user 0.01 sys
Printing test page...
-rw------- 1 root wheel 0 Jan 7 22:48 /tmp/aps_testout.tx8J6e
0.01 real 0.00 user 0.00 sys
[ press RETURN to continue ]
-----------------------------------------------------------
Well, I looked around, and "libXt.so.6" *is* loaded on my machine,
as is "libXt.so.6.0".
Now, I know apsfilter will work with this printer, and that it will work
on a slow machine. I used to have a 75 MHz pentium running
FreeBSD 4.0, and apsfilter worked like a charm on it. Any help?
