problem with apsfilter-7.1.1

I am running Slackware-8.0.  I've tried ghostscript versions 5.50, 6.50,
6.52, and 7.03 and they
all do the same thing (nothing).  I can run the Test print from the
apsfilter SETUP (which works),
install the configuration, but am not able to print.

I have a HP Photosmart 1115 printer.  I've installed the hpijs-1.0 files
per their instructions for
the ghostscript ijs support.  Compiled them into ghostscript (tried all
versions of gs listed above).

The only log file that has anything pertainent is /var/spool/lpd/lp/log:

apsfilter warning: unknown option 'ron'
unable to read client data err=-4
AFPL Ghostscript 7.03: Unrecoverable error, exit code 1

The option 'ron' it is referring to I assume is my machine hostname.

I was able to select the HP970 driver at one time and print.  After
installing
the ijs drivers all my printer does is spit out blank pages.

Would like to get this working with the HP P1115 ijs driver if possible.
