This error seems to be caused by a buggy ghostscript package.
Just update to 7.03 and you should be done.

Did you correctly install the pips package? If so, maybe
the filter pips-sc880 was installed in a location not in
SETUP's path -- you can adjust that at the top of the
SETUP script (and you'll probably have to include it in
the PATH setting in apsfilterrc as well).
