I remember HP printer, who were able to print PS, PCL > and HPGL, sometimes failed recognizing Postscript exactly ... It recognizes apsfilter(a2ps)-generated PostScript in local jobs, so I believe it would recognize apsfilter(a2ps)-generated PostScript in remote jobs. > Could be the case, that you have to set it up, that Postscript is > the default language ... But then you have to send everything According to the printer's internal test page, it's set to automatic recognition. Once I have figured out how to do that, I'll change it to PS. > "encapsulated in PS". But no problem, since this does apsfilter. > > And as you can see, FreeBSD 4.5 RC1 fires up apsfilter as input > filter... According to my logs, it's started here as well. I did some testing for Garance, and got a 20 K log from four jobs, two from each machine. There's only two a2ps invocations in there, unsurprisingly both from the locally printed jobs. I put the log file up at "http://www.chrullrich.de/lpd-log-1", if you would like to see it. > One last idea, maybe it makes a difference, when the apsfilter > print server prints to a lpd remote printer ...
