gs dumps core... this is strange, given that calling it
manually works okay. And since printing the test page from
SETUP (which uses the same command line) work as well, I'm
pretty much helpless here...

Please create a debugging log with aps2file, just to see
if the error occurs independently of the nprint stuff.
