Slackware 8 

I finally got my HP710C to work under Slackware 8 by following a thread on 
alt.os.linux.slackware.  

Simply, the instructions were to delete the /etc/printcap, install pnm2ppa, 
and then run ./SETUP, this works perfectly.

There is still some striping in the colour, but this is definitley better 
performance than one gets from CUPS.
