apsfilter+efax

OK, I'm pretty sure this is an obvious one... but I'm not seeing it.

I'm using apsfilter with my main printer, and would like to set up my
fax modem as a second printer using efax. I've got efax working with
lpd, using their recommended printcap entry:

fax:lp=/dev/null:sd=/var/spool/lpd/fax:if=/usr/bin/faxlpr:

This works for .ps files. I'd like to integrate it with apsfilter, so
I can fax arbitrary files. The apsfilter documentation includes the
following cryptic statement in section 4.2.3.1 (generic PostScript
printer):

This kind of queue is also useful if you want to
post-process the output from apsfilter with a third-party printer
driver. These packages usually expect PostScript files to arrive at
their own printer filter, so that they can call gs and/or their
driver.

Ummm... how do I postprocess the apsfilter output with
/usr/bin/faxlpr?
