Well, the obvious first step is to see if the lpr command you're using
to print is really doing what you think it is.

If the apsfilter printer is NOT called "lp", issuing

$ lp test.txt

is going to fail because apsfilter isn't being triggered.  Say your
WinDoze printer is named "hpoj" (one of mine is) with apsfilter's SETUP
program:  then you would want--

$ lp -Phpoj test.txt

under FreeBSD.  Obviously, if you're using the correct name and nothing
is coming out, you've got a more subtle configuration problem--probably
an issue with Samba's passwords not being configured right (just my
guess).
