| Laserjet 5N and top margin cut off |
Hi, I've been using an HP laserjet 5N for a few years and have had to cope with the top margin being cutoff the top of the printed page. I am using a Slackware 8.0 machine with the 2.4.18 kernel. Apsfilter version 6.1.1 is on the machine and I can print anything from Netscape, Star Office or Via Voice but the page seems to be shifted upwards to cut off 1/2 of the top line only. I've used an apostrophe at the top left corner and that suffices except the bottom margin is quite large and automatically starts a second page with cutting off the first line again. I can't type (or talk) with careless abandon. :-) I have tried manipulating the /etc/a2ps.cfg file and it doesn't seem to do a thing to shift the page. I have the settings for "letter" and have changed the values a few times. I've also rebooted the machine. Am I changing the wrong file? The test page comes out beautifully. I just installed 32mb of memory that shows on the test page of the HP testing utility. One fellow says there is a section in the LJ setup menu that one has to change to get a larger area covered with the printer but I cannot find it. I have done searches on the topic but I have a hard time putting it in words. Do I use top margin justification, justification, margins cut off, laserjet and margins? I've had a tough time trying to get some manageable hits. What I need in someone who has had the top margin of the page cut off with direction towards the remedy as I am banging my head trying to find a proper source (or file) for the answer.
