apsfilter Freebsd 4.5-R method=auto works for local but not for remote client 


I am not on the list so please reply directly to me (hvb@dsms.com).

My setup.
freebsd 4.5-R apsfilter 7.2.1 installed from the packages tree.
HP laserjet 3200 on a jet direct box.

This all works great from the local machine, enscript or text 
files.  If i print from my iMac, i get raw Postscript sent to the 
printer. If i take the spool file from  the iMac print job, and 
copy it to a second freebsd 4.5 box and lpr it, it prints correctly.

Printing from a remote CUPS SUSE box fails in the same way.  Any 
ideas or pointers?
