| top page cut-off |
Hi, Have mentioned this before but wonder if there is someone who can try to point me in the direction of resolution with printing. Am running a stock Slack 8.0 system with kernel 2.4.18 and CAN get apsfilter to run an HP laserjet 5N printer just beautifully. Only problem is the top line is always cut off. I have appended a jpeg of a scan of the top of a printed page if the group doesn't have a filter to disallow it. It is only 20k. It seems the text is shifted upwards and I am trying to get it the top and bottom margins to center properly. The a2ps.cfg file does nothing unless I am supposed to put it somewhere. I don't know if there is something in ghostscript to alter to page centering. Don't tell me to upgrade to the latest apsfilter and ghostscript as I couldn't get anything to work and had to reload Slack just to get the abnormal printing back. The test page would work but the printer would fail to respond at all with no error messages. I have tried the linux-printing site and apsfilter sites along with doing a pile of searches with different phrases. I think the term would be defective page registration but have tried lots of keywords to no avail. A few folks have had a similiar problem but I couldn't find any workable answers. I would hear, "get CUPS" or "foo printer" whatever the heck they are. Thanks in advance. Kurt Savegnago ksaves2@theramp.net Kurt Savegnago ksaves2@theramp.net
