printing strangeness Woody+Emacs

I just upgraded my Debian Potato system to Woody, and during the upgrade
it messed up my old apsfilter configuration, warning me as it did so
that I would have to reconfigure printing. I have did that, and most
applications handle printing fine now, except for emacs. No matter what
filter I install, the emacs postscript buffer prints off-center to the
left by an inch or so, and then an extra page with an error message gets
printed:

I have a Canon BJC 4300 printer and I am using the bjc50 driver. (Same
results with bjc600 and bjc800, though.) I am having this problem with
GNU Emacs 20.7.2. Apsfilter version is 7.2.2-3, for Woody. Printer
connected locally via the parallel port. As I noted, other programs are
able to print OK: Mozilla, WordPerfect8.

echo "text" | lpr works.

Emacs in ASCII buffer print mode works.

I would appreciate any advice about how to fix this.

Thanks,
