| Re: Problem:Slackware 8.1 printing to Windows shared printer |
Problem solved!, with a work-around. The windows/samba printer is on a different network. As root: SETUP printed the test page, apsfilter would not. And yes, I did type "I". echo "test" | lpr caused my hard disk to rattle at about 5 second interval. lpq reported a 'broken pipe'. Cleared the rattle by lprm -a all. I got it to print by making an entry into /etc/hosts to point to the machine with the printer. echo "test" | lpr works now. Without the /etc/hosts entry, apsfilter prints ok only if the netbios-printer is on the same network. I tested this. This is a bug. As non-root: startx used mozilla and printed a web page just fine.
