That sounds like the file is being interpreted as an ASCII file instead of as a PDF. Check to make sure it's being recognized as a PDF file. If you look at the first line of the file in a text editor, it should start with %PDF-1.3 Also, the command $ file 100009.pdf should give a response something like 100009.pdf: PDF document, version 1.3 (of course, it may be a version 1.2 or something). -- Joseph J.
